OK, this is awesome. Data recovery provider Kroll Ontrack built an automated system to help clean 5200 backup tapes before grabbing the data from them. Using LEGO.
Engineer Thomas Hanselmann raided his son’s LEGO collection to build the gadget, which has been in use for several years. The company now uses the phrase “LEGO moment” to describe an elegant but non-obvious solution. Frankly, too much LEGO in the enterprise is barely enough.
