Disconnect Search Makes Your Google, Bing And Yahoo Searches Private

Disconnect Search Makes Your Google, Bing And Yahoo Searches Private

Chrome/Firefox: Disconnect, makers of our favourite privacy-protecting browser extension, unveiled Disconnect Search today, an add-on that makes your searches completely private, regardless of whether you’re using incognito or private browsing mode.

The video above does a good job of explaining the issue and the extension. While there’s definitely some utility in being able to go back over your search results and history, there are other times when privacy is the order of the day, and you just don’t feel like everything you search for being logged. Once installed, Disconnect Search lets you choose your preferred search engine. You can then search right from the extension’s drop-down menu, or via Chrome’s omnibar and Firefox’s search toolbar.

Sure, you could also just open an incognito tab or private browsing window and get the same effect (as long as you’re logged out), but Disconnect search rolls that privacy into your browser and into everything you search for, all the time, whether you’re logged in to your Google, Microsoft or Yahoo account or not.
