Catch Up With Foxtel Shows Online Via iQ EPG

Paying Foxtel customers can catch up with shows after their broadcast via Foxtel Go, but that works on a separate device rather than your TV. A new enhancement to the Foxtel iQ set-top box allows you to browse backwards in the on-screen electronic program guide (EPG) and watch shows you’ve missed.

The enhancement was announced at Foxtel’s 2014 media preview last night. Programs from up to 26 hours prior can be accessed, but are streamed via the internet rather than through the Foxtel cable or satellite connection. The feature is being gradually rolled out to existing subscribers over the next month. It doesn’t attract any additional charges from Foxtel, but could chew through your available bandwidth if you use it a lot, especially on HD channels.

Foxtel also confirmed that its enhanced iQ3 set-top box is on track for a 2014 launch. The interface for that service is expected to closely mimic the Foxtel Play service which was released in late July.
