Canary Calendar Syncs With Google And Facebook, Makes Scheduling Easy

iOS: If your life revolves around Google calendars and Facebook events, Canary is a new smart calendar that makes checking, organising and adding appointments to your calendars quick and easy. Scheduling is as simple as tapping free time, and the “nest” agenda view gets you up to speed quickly on the day’s events.

Adding new appointments is as easy as a single-tap in any open part of your calendar, and once you schedule an event, an email invitation goes off to your attendees asking them if they’re free, or if they want to propose an alternate time — regardless of the type of calendar they use. You can even tell Canary to offer them multiple time options based on free times on your calendar that work for you.

Canary also understands plain language, so “Get coffee with Sarah every Tuesday at 2pm” will do exactly what you want it to do. The app connects with your contacts to figure out who Sarah is, and integrates with FourSquare so you can choose your favourite coffee shop. Simple gestures (which you can see in the video above) make navigating the app — and your calendar — easy, once you get the hang of them.

The “Nest View” is an agenda-style view that gives you a one-glance overview of your schedule. Canary is probably one of the most flexible Google Calendar clients we’ve seen for the iPhone, and the fact that it rolls in Facebook events makes it a useful tool to keep track of where you’re supposed to be during the day as well as what’s going on after hours with your friends. It’s free, and you can give it a try at the link below.
