Windows: It’s not hard to instruct Windows to use a certain app to open a type of file, but there’s not really a place to manage all those associations at once. That’s unless you have Types.
This app provides one, simple box that you can use to modify the file associations of any file type in Windows. You can also access Types’ options from the right-click menu on any file itself. For example, you can set a particular file type to open in one app, but edit in another or change its icon.

Or, you could just hit start, type ‘default programs’ and then hit enter.
Sure, you don’t get to set icons, but it is there out of the box.
