Do You Eat At Your Desk?

Do You Eat At Your Desk?

For some, lunch offers an opportunity to get away from the office, take a little mental break and prepare for the rest of the day. For others, it’s a chance to get ahead on tasks or catch up on reading. Do eat at your desk?

We’ve showed you ways you can use your lunch breaks more effectively, but it’s also possible that eating lunch at your desk might actually make you less productive. If you bring your own lunch to work, there are good ways you can upgrade your brown-bag lunch, including making your own tasty, balanced Bento meals. So, how about you?

  • I do sometimes but normally I try to get outside, even if only for 15 minutes. We have a pretty sweet outdoor area and my normal routine is to eat out there and read, browse a forum or Facebook and maybe listen to some music.

  • It really depends on the day. If there’s a 30min class on at the local gym, I find that to be a great way to reenergise for the afternoon.

  • I used to work at a place where people would eat at their desk while browsing facebook / shopping websites, and then get all precious about how they ate lunch at their desk, like a martyr.

At the end of the day I think it makes people crabby and unproductive, and also it doesn’t look very professional if you have clients visiting the office.

If you think you’re so essential and important that you can’t possibly leave the office for half an hour to eat, then you should be important enough that you can delegate if something absolutely has to be done this instant.

  • I Eat at my desk sure, but I’m usually playing games or watching YouTube while I eat, Work can wait till after I’m done eating.
