Supercharge Your Home Office This Weekend

Supercharge Your Home Office This Weekend

It doesn’t take much to have a functional home office, but you have to put in little work to get the most out of it. This weekend, check out these tips and tricks to supercharge your workspace.

Build Yourself A Better Desk

Need a better desk? You have plenty of options. We’ve devoted an entire Weekendhacker to building a standing desk, so you have lots of choices if you’d rather not kill yourself sitting all day long.

Before you decide, you should figure out the right approach by reading our guide to choosing or building a desk. They come in all shapes and sizes and can include lots of built-in organisation, so it helps to figure out the basics of what you want before you dive right in.

We’ve featured many interesting desk builds to inspire you. Here are some favourites:

Once you’ve made your choice, don’t forget about cable management!

Set Up Those Multiple Monitors

Not everyone needs more than one display. You’ll find good arguments for and against it. Nevertheless, an array of monitors looks awesome and can aid in your productivity, so as long as we’re supercharging our workspaces we might as well consider two or more screens.

First, make sure you have a graphics card that can handle two or more displays. Most can, but not all integrated GPUs (and older discrete ones) manage high-resolutions screens well so check first. Second, you need to pick a good display and get as many as you need to complete your setup. Third, hook them all up, configure their settings (on Windows or Mac), and download a good tool to help manage them.

Keep Your Home Office Well-Stocked

An office without supplies is just a desk in a room. We love minimalism, but only if it solves a problem. Most offices need a few helpful supplies to function at their best.

If you want the best, start by checking out our favourites. Also, don’t forget that several items intended for other parts of your home work well in the office, too. Make sure you have plenty of binder clips, as they make for one of the most versatile tools you can buy.

Personalise Your Workspace

Design plays a key role in an awesome home office. You don’t have to do much to add a lot of character and fun. For inspiration, check out our featured workspaces. Once you’ve got everything functioning well and looking great, you’ll have a fantastic workspace.

Have a great weekend!
