Our favourite to-do list app, Wunderlist, has had some syncing issues over the past few months. Luckily, they’re very easy to fix. Here’s how.
I started having syncing issues a few months ago, where my to-do list on my Windows PC, MacBook, iPad and Android phone would all be completely different and wouldn’t sync properly when I pressed the “Sync” button.
After hearing this from a few other folks, I went on a search for the solution and Wunderlist actually had one in their help center. Apparently, they moved their data to some new servers recently that caused problems for a lot of people, so we decided it was worth sharing here for anyone having similar problems. All you need to do is log out on all your devices (not just the ones that are behind), make sure your list is correct on the web, then log back in.
- Open an Incognito or Private Browsing Window of your browser (Chrome or Firefox).
- Visit www.wunderlist.com and log in with your email and password.
In this Private/Incognito window, you’ll see which lists are synced with our database for your account. Please compare what you see there with what you see in your other Wunderlist apps.
If there is anything missing & it is not syncing, please add it manually to the Private/Incognito window.
After everything has been entered here in the Web App, please be sure to sync, by clicking your picture in the top left. Now, all your data is safe.
To get your other Wunderlist Apps back in sync, just log out and back in from your account. You can do this by:
- Clicking on the avatar in the top left of the sidebar & click on “Logout”
- Log back in with your email address
After you’ve done this on every device, everything should sync correctly again. Again, we’re terribly sorry for the sync issues and any hassle caused. If you have any other problems or need extra help, just let us know.
That’s it! Since doing this a few weeks ago, I’ve had zero problems with Wunderlist, and it instantly syncs all my to-dos to all my devices as intended.
Update: Wunderlist says it has fixed most of the issues that caused this problem, so most people shouldn’t have to go through these steps. We’ll leave them here just in case anyone needs them!
