De-Stink An Old Sponge With Bicarb Soda

Sponges, by their very nature, become gross pretty quickly. If you find yourself throwing them out more often than you’d like, there’s an easy way to at least make them smell a little fresher.

All you have to do is soak the offensive sponges in a solution of four tablespoons of bicarb soda, and one litre of water. After a few minutes, they should smell much fresher.

To be clear, you should still replace your sponges regularly; they are a breeding ground for bacteria, after all. That said, this trick is really simple, and can make them less smell a little less gross in the meantime.
