Control Your Microwave With The Raspberry Pi

Web developer Nathan Broadbent hacked his microwave into something awesome. The brains behind it? Yes, the inexpensive Raspberry Pi.

Now that he’s added the Pi to his microwave, he can control it from a web browser, issue voice commands, use a barcode scanner to get cooking instructions for an online microwave cooking database (which Broadbent created himself) and more.

It’s a pretty complicated project that involves hacking the microwave touchpad, but Broadbent’s shared all of the software and the basics of how made his microwave smarter if you also want to create your own picrowave.
