One of the selling points of Huawei’s ultra-thin Ascend P6 Android phone (which goes on sale in Australia from July 15) is the ‘beauty shot’ option on the camera, which is supposed to make you look better in selfies by fixing the lighting and eliminating your wrinkles. Does it work?
I gave the feature a quick test at the official Australian media launch this morning. The picture on the left is me using the standard 5MP camera on the P6. The one in the right is essentially the same pose but with the “instant facial beauty support” cranked up to maximum. (Click for full-sized versions, where the difference is a little more evident.)

My conclusion: It’s going to take more than a few in-camera tweaks to make me look good. What do you think?

haha I dunno, the difference is definitely there when you make it bigger, around the eyes especially.. It doesn’t exactly just look like a cheap localised blur either which is not a bad effort.
its hardly a professional retouch but judging by my facebook feed from friends i met overseas slefies are in, as is instantly uploading them so most of them would love this feature, personally i am enjoying slowly changing my prefences on feed as mentioned a few weeks ago, has completely transformed what i am seeing.
I couldn’t see the difference to be honest.
