- linux.conf.au 2014 has announced an extension for proposals. “Originally scheduled to be closed this week, the papers committee has agreed to extend the deadline by two weeks, as there’s been some requests for extension from potential speakers, and we want to make sure that everyone a chance to have their proposal considered!” Head to the Linux.conf.au 2014 website for more information.
- Virgin Mobile has announced it will once again be streaming the ‘Best of the Fest’ from Splendour in the Grass 2013. The web stream will capture the must-see moments from the three-day festival and will air them via the Virgin Mobile YouTube channel from 2 pm AEST on Sunday, 28 July 2013.
- Vine is a mobile app owned by Twitter that lets users post six second video clips. Here’s a mashup of some of the funniest clips.
- A Toronto photography studio has stumbled across a stereoscopic camera, and its photographic slides, that captured scenes of World War I in 3D. The images, acquired using a handheld stereoscopic camera called the Verascope, were taken by French soldiers and include trenches, streets and battlefields. Click here for a vintage eyeful.
