Between WWDC and E3, it’s a big week of announcements of shiny new products. It’s also author Maurice Sendak’s birthday this week, and this quote from him reminds us that it’s good to step away from time to time and remember we don’t always need new things.
The quote comes from Sendak’s Higglety Pigglet Pop! Or, There Must Be More to Life. The story follows a dog not content with owning everything and goes out into the world to find something she doesn’t have. That something ends up being a bit more than the dog bargains for, and it’s a reminder that chasing after the next material object can sometimes get us in trouble. At the very least it’s a good reminder to think twice before hopping on that upgrade treadmill.
