No iOS Office 365 For Australians Just Yet

Over the weekend, Microsoft officially launched a mobile iOS app for users of the Office 365 subscription suite, enabling basic viewing and editing of Office documents on iPhones and iPads. Unfortunately, it's not yet available in the Australian iTunes store.

Microsoft has form in this department: we had to wait six months between the launch of the oneNote iOS app and its appearance in Australia. Comments from Microsoft staff on the launch blog post suggest that will be the case here too:

We are making sure everything goes smoothly for you by letting us poor Americans work out all the kinks first :). It's coming soon to a market near you, so stay tuned and thanks for your patience.

We'll translate that as "our backend payment systems could use some refinement".

*everything except those pertaining to locale, especially little-used functions like date, time, daylight-savings, language, ...

You know, I just hit the up button on your comment on the iTunes radio.

You know, music, where this sh*t is actually relevant. Office is fully configurable bro...

Yeah, I can write the manual on how to configure Office and Windows on locale settings. Unfortunately I can also write the book on how Microsoft (Apple, Google et al) make the same implementation errors in these areas because of the assumptions made by them all living in the same homogeneous English environment in west coast America.
