The Wooden Apple Workspace

A workspace doesn’t need much more than a collection of useful tools, good organisation and a smart combination of furniture. Lifehacker reader YourDailyApple managed all three in this concise, Apple-centric workspace.

Here’s what you’re looking at:

An old Ikea Dining table holds the equipment but it has seen better days. The gear is centred around my Apple Thunderbolt 27″ Cinema Display. The ports and cable tidy at the back of the Display allow me to keep the desk almost wire-free.

The Airport Express connects by WiFI to my Airport Extreme Base Station on the other side of the house. The Airport Express is also connected with an Audio Line Out cable to the Denon M35 DAB. I only recently discovered that I can select the Airport Express as my main speaker by ⌥ + Click the Volume slider in the Menubar. And despite the fact that I have an Ethernet connection (MacBook > Thunderbolt > Display > Ethernet > Airport Express = wired connection to the Internet), I can play the Audio through the lovely sounding Denon system… No Airplay over WiFi required.

The main purpose of all of this equipment is part of my new training business that I am in the process of getting of the ground. I am very lucky to have this all Apple setup. I know its not for everyone but it works really well for me.
