I’m Tina Roth Eisenberg, Founder Of Swissmiss, And This Is How I Work

It’s hard to go online without seeing a product or project Tina Roth Eisenberg has had a hand in. Your friend Instagrammed an arm full of temporary Tattly ink? Tina. A colleague checked into the coworking space Studiomates? Tina. You discovered an incredibly cool new artist on the design blog Swissmiss? Tina.

She’s also the force behind the minimalist calendar app TeuxDeux and the monthly breakfast lecture series Creative Mornings. How does she do it all? And, more importantly, how does she do it all and remain so genuinely happy and inspired? We caught up with her to find out.

One word that best describes how you work: enthusiastically

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?

Dropbox helps me sleep at night, knowing my data is backed up. Feedly helps me manage my RSS feeds. The Shazam app helps me discover new music. It’s pure magic. iAWriter helps me focus on writing.

What’s your workspace like?

I started a small coworking space five years ago in DUMBO called Studiomates, which has since grown into a 40-person force. We are all developers, designers, illustrators, writers, photographers, etc. I call it my happy place. I believe that my studiomates make me smarter and work harder.

What do you listen to while you work?

I currently have two favourite playlists on Rdio that I follow that are perfect for when you need to focus: Ambient by Timmmii and Concentrate by Trent Walton.

What’s your best time-saving trick?

Not sure what I would do without Magic Text. The app has changed my life.

What’s your favourite to-do list manager?

Well, obviously, TeuxDeux. I created it together with some of my studiomates. If you like making lists and live in your browser, you will most probably like my app.

Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?

My Kindle.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?

Keeping my kids entertained on long-distance flights. I have it down to a science!

What’s your sleep routine like?

I try to sleep at least eight hours. My kids are my alarm clocks.

Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?

Extrovert all the way. I love meeting new people! I have no problem chatting up people even in the oddest circumstances. Also, I met my husband in a lift.

Fill in the blank. I’d kill to see _______ answer these same questions.

Michael Galpert and Ping Fu.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Listen to your gut.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I’ve just given a very personal talk at SXSW in which I talk about my 11 rules and values I live by, both in my professional and personal life. Watch it here.

We’ve asked a handful of heroes, experts and flat-out productive people to share their shortcuts, workspaces and routines. Every week we’ll feature a new guest and the gadgets, apps, tips and tricks that keep them going. Want to suggest someone we should feature or questions we should ask? Let us know.
