Put A Magnet In Your Pocket To Hold Screws For Easy Access

If you're up on a ladder, or under a piece of machinery, keeping your screws easily accessible isn't easy — after all, you can't just throw them in an egg carton the way you can at a workbench. Here's a simpler solution: put a magnet in your pocket.

This is similar to our previous suggestion of a DIY magnetic wristband, but much simpler: drop a magnet into your pocket and hang your screws, drill bits or other metal pieces outside your pocket as shown above. Make sure you have a strong magnet, so they don't fall off. It's a lot easier to grab them from the outside of your pocket than it is to try and reach inside, especially if you're trying to keep your balance on a ladder or if you're working in an enclosed space.

This is actually a decent tip! Now I just have to find a magnet that doesn't weigh a ton.

      1. find old hard drive which has stopped working
      2. get out the T8 (or hefty pair of pliers - it'll be much easier with the right tools), pen it up and retrieve magnets
      3. profit

watch out for pinching - they tend to leap together with remarkable force.

these magnets are very strong - half my tools are held are attached to the shed wall with magnets kindly donated by dead hard drives .. and that easily includes hammers
