Mod Your GameCube This Weekend

Many people are rediscovering the consoles and games they spent so many hours playing and Nintendo systems are popular for modding to play multiple types of games. Console modding forum Made by Bacteria user Hailrazer combined several mods into an uber-GameCube that also plays N64 games.

The mod takes advantage of a legacy adapter that plugs into the bottom of a GameCube and allows Game Boy Advance games to play natively on that console. Hailrazer stripped out the internals of the adaptor and added the guts of a N64 console as well as an Everdrive 64 a circuit that can play 99% of known N64 games via a SD card reader. This freed up a lot of space from the N64 and means that he didn’t need access to any of those cartridges. A few other mods were included such as an A/V output switch, SD card reader for the GameCube, and a row of LED lights.
