Briefly: Twitter Transparency, Adam In Limbo

Brief news items of note for Lifehacker readers, including Twitter’s latest transparency report on government information requests and more roadblocks for Telstra buying Adam.

  • Twitter has released its second transparency report on requests for government takedowns. It doesn’t offer the same level of detail as Google’s similar report, but does reveal that the Australian government made less than 10 requests for user account information in the second half of 2012.
  • Telstra’s hopes of buying out South Australian ISP Adam and using it for a budget brand are looking dim: the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has indefinitely delayed a decision on whether the acquisition would lessen competition.
  • Following a successful trial at IKEA’s Tempe store, rent-by-the-hour vehicle provider GoGet is also offering trucks at IKEA’s Homebush store. This is a great way for furniture buyers to get their goods home; here’s hoping the scheme goes national.
