Briefly: Facebook Graph Search Down Under, Windows Phone 7.8 SDK Released

Brief news items of note for Lifehacker readers, including how Facebook Graph Search works in Australia and the release of the Windows Phone 7.8 SDK.

  • Luke at Gizmodo was lucky enough to see Facebook Search Graph enabled on his account just a few days after its launch. His initial testing highlights both the potential for creepy searches and the lack of decent Australian business data in Bing, which Facebook relies on for many of its suggestions.
  • Microsoft has released the software development kit (SDK) for Windows Phone 7.8, which is driving speculation that the upgrade will be released soon. Given that 7.8 doesn’t add much other than resizable tiles, there shouldn’t be major delays, though carrier behaviour is, as usual, very unpredictable.
  • Two brief specials worth noting: Big W has free delivery for online orders for the next five days (though bulky items are excluded) (hat tip to OzBargain), while Lonely Planet has 50 per cent off all its travel titles, both print and digital, until January 25 (another hat tip to OzBargain).
