Add Custom Keyboard Shortcuts To Photoshop

Photoshop has a nifty feature: you can edit keyboard shortcuts and add new ones to your liking. It’s really simple to use too. Just go to the Edit menu and choose Keyboard Shortcuts.

You can add just about any shortcut you want. Photoshop Secrets suggests using this feature to make it easier to add and edit smart objects:

I use Smart Objects quite a lot in my work. So to make them easier to create and edit, I created a few shortcuts.

Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts

Under Layer > Smart Objects set these shortcuts

This is what I set.

Create Smart Object ⌘ ⇧ O

Edit Smart Object ⌘ ⇧ E

They will likely conflict with existing shortcuts, which I didn’t use. You should obviously select shortcuts that don’t conflict with other shortcuts you don’t use.

You can do whatever you like, of course. Adobe likes to change around its keyboard shortcuts with each version, so you can change them back if you prefer or just use this feature to make certain commands more accessible.
