Plex Home Theater Adds HD Audio, AirPlay

The awesome Plex streaming media centre is getting a massive update for its Windows and Mac apps. The newly dubbed “Plex Home Theater” adds HD audio support and Airplay streaming (so you can stream wirelessly from compatible devices).

Right now the update is a pre-release preview only available for subscribers to the PlexPass premium subscription service.

Along with the HD audio support, you’ll be able to use Plex Home Theater on your computer to stream 10-bit H.264 video. The desktop app also syncs with XBMC 12 beta, and fixes a number of bugs including A/V syncing on standard definition files, so it should be a faster, much improved streaming experience overall.
