Get Faster Wi-Fi With The ‘Automatic’ Settings On Your AirPort Router

We’ve shared a lot of tips for speeding up your Wi-Fi over the years, but blogger Adam Fields discovers that sometimes not tinkering with your router is the best solution. After a number of informal tests on his AirPort Extreme router, Fields found that leaving everything set to “Automatic” brought the best performance results.

This may seem obvious to some, but after years of tips on finding the right wireless channel and using multiple bands, most of us have become accustomed to tinkering with settings. This may still be beneficial for some routers, but when it comes to Apple’s extremely popular AirPort Routers, Fields (and a number of other users) have found that it’s really best to just leave things alone.
