XBMC 12.0 Frodo Beta Brings Live TV And PVR Support To Your Media Centre

XBMC is still our favourite customisable media centre software around, and today you can download the beta of version 12.0. It adds live TV, PVR support, better AirPlay and lots more to your home theatre PC.

The full list of new features includes:

  • HD audio support, including DTS-MA and Dolby True-HD, via the new XBMC AudioEngine
  • Live TV and PVR support
  • h.264 10bit (aka Hi10P) video software decoding for anime
  • 64bit support in OSX to match the 64bit support in Linux
  • Improved image support, allowing the database to accomodate numerous additional image types
  • Support for the Raspberry PI
  • Initial support for the Android platform
  • Improved Airplay support across all platforms
  • Advanced Filtering in the library
  • Advanced UPnP sharing
  • Translations now powered by Transifex

The beta may still have a few bugs in it, and if you use a lot of add-ons or custom skins, expect that certain things may break. But if you're brave and want to give the new version a shot, you can check out the beta downloads under "Current Testing Release" on this page. Hit the link to read more about the update.

XBMC 12.0 Frodo - Beta 1 [XBMC Blog]

im still using dharma as upgrading to eden caused all sorts of network buffering issues. Dont know why though. I wonder if this one is any better?

I'm using Eden but I have exactly the same issue. Weird buffering problems... On both of mine.

REALLY hoping that Frodo fixes it.

Just started using XBMC yesterday (not the beta) as I finally finished building my dream media centre. Anyone know how to change the skip forward and back times? I can't seem to get my cheap eBay MCE remote remote to do more or less than 30sec. Also is there a way to get HULU to work properly with an MCE remote? :)

It's been a while since I used XBMC but pretty sure there is stuff on the forum about changing the skip times. You might be able to find an xml for your remote that someone has written up.

      I use my phone!!

Probably easier ones out there...first ones I saw and grabbed and they worked!!

I have been using http://hipporemote.com/ for a few years now. Can't fault it for my uses

as hogdog said, google it, you just need to change an xml file even change some other buttons to do other amounts or functions, like queuing up. Some ebay remotes can be problematic, best to look to the forums, but for Hulu, I don't think anything really works well with it. Check out Free Cable, I find this a great add on.

check the xbmc wikipedia, look for advancedsettings.xml and under the VIDEO section.
