The Modern Art Workspace

Today’s featured workspace combines a mix of colourful vintage accessories with cleverly used IKEA furniture. The effect is a well-organised and very artistic-looking workspace.

Apartment Therapy calls Rustam Babayev’s studio “a pastiche of today and yesterday’s Russia”. Rustam says he enjoys combining mid-century furniture and accessories — including an Eames chair and Soviet-era pottery — with contemporary pieces such as the IKEA desk and cabinet. Babayev also reproduced several Henri Matisse collages himself.

One of the more striking areas of the space is the bookshelf in back with a rainbow of books (Babayev took the covers off the 200 volumes of world literature books and grouped them by colour).

For more details on this mod space, check out the tour on Apartment Therapy.
