Exercise Outdoors With The Woodsman Workout

If you’re looking for a new exercise aproach but hate gyms, consider a fitness routine that needs nothing more than hiking boots, an axe, and logs. The woodsman workout gives you cardio and weight training without dedicated equipment and while enjoying natural settings.

This workout compilation was put together by masculinity weblog The Art of Manliness and involves hiking, boulder tossing, bear crawls, splitting wood, and doing various free-weight exercises involving logs, including the aptly named Lumberjack press.

This definitely isn’t for everyone (and would be hard to do daily if you live in a major city) but if you enjoy hiking and splitting wood anyway maybe it might be a better fit for you than running, cycling, or using fitness equipment at a gym. The price is right and you get to wear flannel and denim.
