If you're one of the millions of people who struggle with insomnia, Sleepio is a new service that promises to help you get better sleep. Over time, you'll learn to adjust your lifestyle, your mindset towards sleep, your daily schedule, and even your bedroom so the end result is that you fall asleep faster, get better sleep, and have more energy during the day.
To get started, Sleepio quizzes you on your current sleep and lifestyle habits, asks you to fill out a "sleep diary" for a few days, and then takes that information and uses it to build a truly personal program to help you get better sleep. Every day, you'll log in to Sleepio to be greeted by "The Professor", an assistant that will guide you through the steps of the course, changes you can make to boost your sleep scores, and to track your progress. Best of all, the whole time you have the support of the Sleepio community and dozens of people who are going through the same things you are. You can read more about how the program works here.
Sleepio's program is based on Cognitive behavioural Therapy, and the team behind the service says they have the clinical trial data to back up their approach (here's one of the studies their researchers conducted.) That's just as well, since a 6-week Sleepio course with 6-weeks of post-course support will set you back £49.99 (around $70), while the 12-week course is £79.99 ($125). Even so, compared with the money you may spend on face-to-face sleep therapy, it may be a compelling option.
