Create A Landing Area To Consolidate Clutter And Simplify Your Morning Routine

Getting ready for work in the mornings can sometimes be a challenge, let alone just trying to get your butt out of bed. You can take a lot of stress out of your morning routine by creating a central landing area for your keys, wallet, shoes, etc.

Organisation blog Unclutterer mentions that this is great for kids for when they leave for school, but kids or not, everyone can benefit from having one place where you can put your “necessary clutter”. Find a space where you can stash all of the gear you need for work, like on an end table near the front door or just on the floor by the entry rug, and make sure it’s big enough to store any larger items like a briefcase or a winter coat.

The key is to place everything on your landing area right when you get home at the end of the day, so that it’s all there the next morning when you leave, that way you don’t have to spend the night before getting your stuff around. It’s also useful for making sure you don’t forget certain things, like that bill you need to pay by tomorrow.

Obviously, this is something that you’ll have to add to your routine and create a habit out of, which can take some time, but once you get it down, it can save valuable time when you need to sprint out the door.
