CrashPlan Expands Into Australia: Faster Backups, New Time-Saving Options

Every PC user and IT admin needs a backup strategy, and CrashPlan is one of the best tools around. It backs up to other computers and attached hard drives at no cost, whether you’re on a Windows, Mac or Linux machine. In addition, CrashPlan excels at online backup, and a new data centre in Sydney means even faster cloud backup performance across the entire Asia-Pacific region.

The local CrashPlan data centre will benefit all Australian and New Zealand customers. Home users of CrashPlan+ or small-businesses using CrashPlan PRO will enjoy improved performance and reliability along with local support. These are especially important benefits for enterprises deploying the industry-leading PROe business continuity solution.

The local data centre has also allowed CrashPlan developer Code 42 to introduce backup “seeding”. Previously available only to US customers, this local service saves admins time and bandwidth by physically shipping large initial backups to Code 42 for loading directly onto CrashPlan servers.

Code 42 says it has always enjoyed a strong customer base in Australia, but is bullish on the future, especially with the new Sydney CrashPlan data centre in place. The company is even looking for more customer support and enterprise sales staff, so give them a shout if that sounds like you.
