Grab Free Desktop Syncing Plus 25GB Storage Space On Box

Amongst online storage services, Box has always offered a generous amount of space, especially if you took advantage of its free 50GB deal. One feature it lacked for personal users was syncing, but that is now possible without a business account. Here's how.

Slickdeals member mfaraday noticed a "Get BOX Sync" option under the "My Account" tab. This provides the Box Sync app (for PC or Mac). So, first log into your account at and click on "My Account" in the menu to see if the syncing option is there.

If it's not there for you (it wasn't for me), don't worry. Apparently new users are getting the feature over time. If you can get an invite for 50GB free from someone, you can set up a new account and should see the syncing option (You might even be able to send a 50GB invite to yourself from your account -- as long as you don't have a commercial email address like Gmail or Yahoo).

If you don't have access to another 50GB offer, Slickdeals user BSGjunkie offers this link for 25GB:

I set up a new account via that link and now have desktop syncing plus the 25GB storage space (normally free accounts come with just 5GB). Although it does suck to go down from the 50GB promo, syncing may be a worthwhile trade-off. Note though that the maximum file size limit is 100MB.

It's unclear how long this will be available, so jump on it now if you're interested.

Too little too late Box...i was with you but you didn't have a desktop sync app for the free users so i left you for SkyDrive with 20GB free storage

This is great! I literally checked their site yesterday to see whether I could do this! Since I signed up way back when, I've been wondering how I could actually use my 50GB efficiently without desktop sync.

Still not very useful with a 100meg file limit, i cant even sync my photos directory cause of the videos >100meg, not that i have a "Get BOX Sync" yet anyway.

Really? That sucks! Maybe it's still not quite as useful as I had hoped. I'm trying to set it up now for some auto cloud backups and it's way less intuitive than Dropbox.

Got my 50 with that other awesome product, the mighty HP Touchpad (now running Jelly Bean BTW), but alas, no syncing under my account.

So my Box account has 1.38mb in it. 1 picture. pft.

    Dropbox ftw

if you didn't see the box sync option for free on your account, try this -->
