Clips Is A Syncing Clipboard Manager For Jailbroken iPhones

iOS (Jailbroken) and Windows: Clips is a jailbreak tweak that makes it simple to sync whatever you copy to the clipboard with your computer, helping to bridge the gap between your mobile devices and your desktop.

To start using Clips, search for it in Cydia, pay $US2, and install it. There’s no app and no setup panel in your iPhone settings — you can just start using it. Go ahead and find something to clip, whether it’s text or an image. When you press and hold to bring up the copy menu, you’ll have a new option called “Clip” as well. Choose that and you’ll save the text or image to Clips. When you want to paste, you’ll be able to access Clips through the standard paste action. This will also give you access to Clip’s settings, which will let you link it to Dropbox so it can sync with your other iDevices and computers.

There are a few downsides. Because Clips syncs its data as XML, you can’t really use anything it puts in your Dropbox outright. You need the Clips desktop app, which is currently only available for Windows. Also, in order to link Clips to Dropbox you have to be able to bring up the Clips menu by copying or pasting an item. Because this isn’t obvious, it’s a little confusing until you find the button. Providing settings in the Settings app would be useful, too.

With all of that said, Clips is off to a good start. It’s easy to use, and once you have everything set up it’s a great way to keep all your info in sync.
