Clean Upholstery Stains With Whipped Detergent

Spills on your couch can be difficult to spot clean, and many people resort to using expensive and harsh chemical cleaners. Next time, try removing the stain with dishwashing detergent that has been whipped with a whisk.

Household weblog Apartment Therapy recommends using a rotary whisk to whip dish detergent into a froth, rubbing the froth into your upholstery with a rag, and rising the whipped detergent out with water.

I don’t have that kind of whisk, so I tried mixing two tablespoons of liquid detergent with our electric hand mixer on the lowest speed. It took around two minutes, but the soap eventually turned into a rich froth.
