Text Expander Update Makes Filling In Forms And Creating New Snippets A Breeze

Mac: TextExpander, one of our favourite text-expansion apps, has added a couple of new features to save you from even more time-wasting typing. Version 4 includes fill-in snippets for personalising form letters or other form fields, as well as a wizard for creating new snippets.

The new Snippet Creation Assistant is pretty handy, whether you’re new to using TextExpander or have used an earlier version. It takes you through all the most common snippets (your contact info, date and time, email signatures) and perhaps ones you might forget to add (commonly misspelled words and accents).

The upgrade is free if you purchased TextExpander after January 15 this year or $US15 if you bought it earlier. For new customers, the program is $US34.95, but it’s not available on the Mac App Store due to Apple’s new sandboxing requirement, so pick it up directly from Smile. A free trial is available if you just want to see how it works.
