The check-in service Foursquare launched a new connected apps feature that brings in data from a bunch of other apps directly into the Foursquare. This includes data from services ranging from the Weather Channel to the beer recommendation apps Untappd.
When you connect any of the 11 extra apps to your Foursquare account from the connected apps page you’ll start seeing data from them right away. For instance, if you have Foodspotting connected, you’ll see dish recommendations from friends based on where you’re at. If you have Eat This, Not That, you’ll get specialised food recommendations. Cooler still, if you’re using Untappd, you can get beer recommendations from friends. The handy part is that all of this happens inside the Foursquare app right when you check-in. This means no more fumbling about with a bunch of different apps and wasting time just to make a drink order. The connected apps make it so you’re not just checking in, you’re actually gaining something the experience.
