Air drying is the way to go for cheap and delicate clothes drying, but clothes drying racks and even typical clotheslines don't hold a lot. This wall-mounted clothes dryer rack, made from baby playpen panels, is not only space-efficient but lets you hang lots and lots of clothes.
Erica on Northwest Edible constructed this DIY clothes drying rack from two panels off a "baby jail" she got online. You'd probably be able to make something similar with baby or dog gates, although playpen panels are easier because they're designed to hinge together.
The hinged panels fold out to allow for more air flow around the 1-2 loads of laundry she can hang on each rack, and then fold down when not in use.

How clever!! My laundry room is too narrow though, but the idea is great!
