Put Your Phone In A Drinking Glass To Boost Its Alarm Volume And Avoid Oversleeping

If you're a heavy sleeper and have trouble waking up in the morning to your phone's alarm, Redditor tribalwombat discovered you can boost its volume by sticking it in a drinking glass.

This works because the sound will reverberate inside the glass. It may not be the world's most pleasant amplification technique, but it works great for an alarm. On top of that, to turn the alarm off you have to actually pull the phone out of the drinking glass. This makes it a bit tougher and makes it just a little more likely that you'll have to get out of bed.

I would have thought the water might cause a problem... I'll give it a shot though. If you recommend it...!

I can imagine myself reaching over while still half asleep and knocking over the glass, breaking it. So I don't think I'll do this!

Great. Woke up in the night, felt a bit thirsty, reached over and drank my phone. Now that's not gonna be pleasant on the way out...

Trickier if you charge your phone overnight, as I do. You could put the phone in the glass upside down, but then the acoustic effect is weakened.

It just seems like a really bad habit to form...

Need to wake up early, but got too drunk that night - no probs - chuck the phone in a drinking glass... Oops, too drunk - wrong glass...

    Bad, bad decision.
