Make Your Own Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Chocolate peanut butter cups are ridiculously delicious and indulgent, but you often have to rely on friends who are visiting the US to get yourself a supply in Australia. You can make your own fresh Reese's Peanut Butter Cups-like version with just some aluminium foil, hot water and a mug.

Making these treats couldn't be easier. Love Them Madly blogger Jodie's instructions are simply to mould foil around the top of the mug (creating a mould). Remove the mould, fill the mug with boiling water, fill the mould with peanut butter and chocolate chips, and wait for the chocolate to melt so you can swirl it. 10 minutes in the freezer is enough time to get the cups ready for eating.

You can add other ingredients and toppings if you like, such as biscuit crumbs and chopped nuts.

The great thing about this method is there's really no cleanup — no melting chocolate in a double broiler or saucepan — and no baking. You get your own perfect peanut butter swirl cup in practically no time.

nice, but you can buy Reeseā€™s Peanut Butter Cups at Costco...

Interesting, but not everyone has Costco access

You can also get these at most reject shops (the corner $2 store things) along with Hershey chocolate bars, syrup and Dr Pepper and other USA foods... not overly cheap though

Heaps of stores sell them, the woolies down the road from me stocks them now. and a lot of speciality stores in town.

Great idea. Definitely giving it a try on the weekend. Though, peanut butter from North America has a heap more sugar in it. Any thoughts on which brand of peanut butter is best for this?

Honestly, the major difference I I get with peanut butter cups is the salt hit.

You can barely go into a shop that isn't a coles or wollies in Canberra without tripping over Reeses stuff. It's everywhere here.

Most IGA stores in QLD stock Reese's Peanut Butter Cups

Definitely going to try this, aldi sell an "American peanut butter" which is really good, that's what I'll be using :)

Poor Perth, no Reeces Peanut butter cups for us. Unless youre willing to pony up a small fortune.
