Make A Butter ‘Pen’ To Quickly Grease Pans

Are you tired of getting your hands oily when greasing up a baking dish before putting it in the oven? Maybe you want an easier way to butter your toast in the morning? This hack takes an old — and very clean — roll-on deodorant container, some melted butter and a little patience to give you an actual roll-on butter pen.

In all seriousness, this is no different than some commercially available “greasing pens” you might find in a packaged up and sold to you at a premium at the supermarket. Instructables user RaisedByRobots took an old deodorant bottle, washed it out very thoroughly with a toothbrush (many commenters there rightfully worry about what might be left over in the container, no matter how well it was cleaned, so your mileage may vary), and let it dry completely. Then he melted a stick of butter in the microwave, put the cap on, filled the stick from the bottom, and put it in the fridge overnight. The next morning, he had a roll on stick of butter that won’t get your hands messy when you want to spread it on toast or grease up a baking dish.

We’ve shown you how to speed up your butter consumption with a vegetable peeler and a cheese grater, but this method takes the cake. What do you think? Is this why we’re fat? Let us know in the comments.
