Fitocracy Unveils PvP Battles For All Of Your Competitive Exercise Needs

Fitness-tracking site Fitocracy is a great web app to track your fitness, log how many calories you burn every day, get help and motivation from others, and even turn getting in shape into a game that we love to play. But for some of us, competition is a stronger motivator than collaboration.

For those people (and everyone else looking to make exercise that much more fun), Fitocracy has added player-versus-player (PVP) challenges so you can battle out who can do the most push-ups or burn the most calories with friends.

Fitocracy’s new PVP challenges are, for the time being, limited to premium “Hero” accounts, although a Hero can challenge anyone to a duel. The new PvP system compliments the group challenges that already exist, where teams of Fitocracy subscribers can compete with other groups to get to certain milestones first, earn a certain number of points, or collectively complete different exercise or activity goals.

If you challenge someone to a duel, or accept a duel, the two of you go head-to-head until the end of the duel, meaning all of your activity goes towards besting your opponent, whether it’s at racking up the most activity points or running the longest distance in one afternoon. Even if you’re not the one duelling, you can watch the duel and even choose a side to offer motivation and encouragement to one of the duelists — nothing’s better than competing in front of a crowd.

Fitocracy’s new PVP features add a new and engaging dimension to the service, making it even more like a game you can play for real rewards. If you’re a Hero account holder, you can expect to see the new features roll out today and tomorrow. What do you think? Will you challenge someone to a duel?
