Use A Fork To Grate Ginger

Fresh ginger is wonderful to cook with and while most ginger aficionados have a microplane or ceramic grater, if you’re new to ginger or cooking in someone else’s kitchen you can get your grate on with a fork.

Culinary weblog The Kitchn recommends holding a fork firmly against your cutting board and and rub a peeled piece of ginger across the fork tines. This will shave off a few grinds of ginger each pass and works with garlic as well.
