Repurpose A Plastic Bottle Into A DIY Irrigation System

If you want to go on holidays without your garden plants wilting from neglect, you can easily turn plastic two-litre soft-drink bottles into a makeshift irrigation system.

Craft weblog Fine Craft Guild shares this method where all you have to do is punch two holes in the bottom and two holes in the side and plant the bottles in the soil next to your plants. Fill the bottles with water, and the plants in that area should get a slow steady watering for up to a week as water leaches into the soil.

We covered a similar system that has the water coming from the bottle by way of a plastic tube, which is great if you no space to plant the bottle, but otherwise I think this is a superior method.
