Auto-Disable Google Instant On Slow Computers

Google Instant — which previews the results of search queries as you type — is either a godsend or a massive nuisance, depending on your point of view. Google has tweaked its settings options so you can now set Instant to disable itself on slower machines, or switch it off altogether.

Hit the Search settings option for Google (on the wrench in the top-right corner on Google search result screens) and you can now choose to have Instant switch itself off if your machine is slow. You can also switch Instant off altogether, or leave it enabled no matter how processor-challenged your chosen box is.

Instant is already supposed to switch itself off on slower connections, and often won’t produce results for ‘adult’ queries.
