Use A Spreadsheet To Track Items In Storage

Keeping boxes in storage organised is difficult. Even it starts out looking nice, the second you go searching for something it turns into a quick mess. DIY blog Apartment Therapy recommends not just labelling all your boxes, but creating a spreadsheet with the contents so you can quickly find whatever you’re looking for.

The nice part about this system is that you can organise your storage boxes by how often you use an item instead of by similar items. Put your most used items toward the front or top of the stack, and then label the box with a number. Before you stuff everything out of sight, put together a quick spreadsheet with the contents of each box. Now you won’t have to go through every single one just to find that missing torch. It’s a bit overkill if you’re only storing a few boxes, but if you have a storage unit or large closet, it’s a great way to help you quickly find items.
