Twitter Gets New Timeline, Profile Page, Shortcuts

Twitter is rolling out a significant redesign starting today with a simpler interface that will make it easier to find tweets about topics you’re interested in, connect with other Twitter users and further personalise the service.

A new profile section, for example, will gather all your tweets, lists, favourites and so on. This Me tab, Twitter’s update page says, is “your opportunity to introduce yourself to the world” (or yet another opportunity).

The Connect tab shows everyone who has somehow connected with you on Twitter (follows, mentions, retweets and favourites).

The Discover tab brings personalised streams of tweets related to your interests, based on the #hastags you use, your location and what you follow.

And, finally, the new home page offers a timeline of tweets expandable to show all related content.

Check out the video above to learn more or the Twitter update page below to get a sneak peek while you wait for the update to come to your Twitter account. (Twitter says the update is rolling out over the “next few weeks”, but has already appeared on the iOS and Android apps.)
