Use AppTastic To Find Free And Discounted WP7 Apps

While the Windows Phone Marketplace is fine if you know exactly what you’re looking for, it’s not so great when it comes to discovering cool apps, such as popular games that have been recently discounted. AppTastic is a free app for WP7 that lets you customise search criteria so you can find the gems and weed out the junk.

I’ve been using AppTastic for a few days now to find notable free and discounted apps for my daily App Deals of the Day roundup on Gizmodo Australia. It’s different from other similar apps like App Flow in its ability to set up custom searches and filter results by criteria such as keywords, price, rating, category and more. You can sort results in a number of different ways, create your own customised favourites list and even set up a watch list.

The app could use a bit of polish; there’s an irritating typo in the search filter and you can only see local prices at the download stage, but for a free (ad-supported) app it’s a great way to stumble upon apps you may never have seen otherwise.
