Use A Hot Water Bath To Reheat Mashed Potatoes

Whether you’re looking for a way to reheat mashed potatoes that have gone cold while you’re cooking other things, or you just want a way to reheat them so they’re as smooth and evenly cooked as the first time, a hot water bath is key. Just bring some water in a large pot to a boil, then put in the pot with your mashed potatoes in it. Stir until they’re smooth and evenly reheated.

If you’re familiar with double-boiling, or the best way to melt chocolate, this will look familiar to you. The tip comes from the folks at CHOW, who suggest it if you’ve cooked your potatoes for Thanksgiving dinner too far in advance of your turkey and have yet to serve them. It’s easy and avoids the uneven cooking or dried-out potatoes you’ll get in the microwave, or the burning on the bottom you’ll get if you just turn the heat back on under the potatoes. That said, if you time your food right, you hopefully won’t need this tip at all. How do you make sure everything is done at the same time when you’re cooking a big meal?
