Reheat Pizza In A Skillet To Bring Back Crispy Crusts

Instead of microwaving your leftover cold pizza to make soggy hot pizza, try this: reheat the pizza slices in a large skillet on medium heat for 4-5 minutes, adding a domed lid for the pizza made with aluminium foil to help reflect heat back to the toppings without trapping steam inside.

Chef John from Culinary blog Foodwishes claims that the residual oil from the pizza crust in your skillet will be reheated and make the crust crispy again and by the time this happens the cheese will have melted again and warmed the toppings. He even says that he uses this method with delivery pizza to improve the crust.

Magic Pizza Reheat Method! [YouTube]

I remember seeing someone at work reheat pizza for lunch on the flat sandwich toaster. They locked the toaster open so that the lid didn't flatten the pizza, but rather hovered over it, so it heated both sides at the same time.

Try reheating the pizza in the oven. Leave the pizza in the box and set the oven to 200 degrees Celcius for 10 minutes. Usual warnings apply: the box and pizza will be hot.

I like the oven method too... in fact it makes some brands of takeaway pizza better than they were when delivered. Maybe the big chains don't cook their pizzas for long enough and we are finishing off the job for them..

The same tip also works for Indian Naan breads & roti's

I think the oven method works especially well for one particular pizza chain as the box tastes better (and probably has a higher nutritional value) than the contents. I never microwave pizza - yuk.

At the office i use to tasted sandwich method, works a treat. At home i use the grill in the oven, first grill the pizza upside down to get the bottom crisp, then flip to heat the top.

If you have access to a sandwich press, it's a quick and easy way of heating the top and bottom of the pizza. Great for work lunches after cheap Tuesday!

Is it just me who just eats it cold in the morning?

I get sore guts when I eat pizza's from a certain chain, but not when I pick it up I chuck it in the oven for 5 minutes before I eat it (even when it is still hot). Maybe the meat isn't cooked 100%?

I think any way besides microwaving is good.

Prior to an unfortunate accident my little toaster-oven was perfect for all kinds of heating/baking/grilling tasks such as this.

Same goes for fish and chips, I use the sandwich maker too.

I have tried this but recommend using BBQ to reheat pizza for best results!
