Make Your Own Tablet-Friendly Paintbrush

You may have seen the Nomad Brush, which is a paint brush designed for your iPad (or really any capacitive touchscreen device). The downside is that it costs $US25. Instructables user velogirl really wanted one, and so she decided to make her own rather than shell out the cash. You can, too.

Here's what you'll need:

  • Needle nose pliers
  • Super glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • A cheap paintbrush
  • Conductive thread
  • An iPad (or other tablet) with a painting app

The process of making your cheap paintbrush tablet-friendly requires a bit of patience but isn't too difficult. You basically remove the bristle head and then the bristles from the head. You'll then need to add the conductive thread to the bristles and put everything back into the head of the brush. (This is the part that requires patience.) Once you're done, just reattach the brush head and you'll be able to paint on your tablet. Pretty fun, and only a few dollars.

One roll of conductive thread costs more than $30...why bother?
