Make Your Own Mind-Control Headgear With A Star Wars Toy

Have you ever had the desire to control things with your mind? Well now you can, with the help of a little technology. Instructables QA engineer frenzy took a Star Wars Force Trainer toy, an Arduino, some basic soldering supplies, and a computer and hacked them together to see his brain’s activity on screen.Electroencephalography (EEG) toys, such as the Star Wars Force Trainer, record the electrical activity along your scalp. It turns out they’re cheap and easily hack-able, too. Frenzy took some code from Frontier Nerds and used an arduino to read the output of this EEG toy on his computer. This is no DIY project for the faint of heart, but it doesn’t seem any less complicated than anything else you’d do with an Arduino (e.g. this selective TV muting device) and is exceptionally cool. If you create it and decide to take it further, it opens up tons of possibilities. You could create a mind-controlled musical instrument, or make a means of controlling your web browser with your thoughts. If you decide to do anything exciting, be sure to share your results in the comments.
