Shortmarks Syncs Bookmark Keywords, Custom Search Engines

Shortmarks lets you manage and sync your custom search engines and bookmark keywords across computers and browsers, without even needing to download an extension.Keyword bookmarks and custom search engines are two of our favourite browser features — they let you browse the web at lightning speed and search other websites from your address bar. Sadly, while we can sync bookmarks, passwords, and just about anything else between browsers, these two features were always left in the dust — until now.

Instead of making you download an extension, Shortmarks stores your data through your Google Account. After signing in, you can customise all of your custom keywords and search engines, and then you change your browser’s default search engine to Shortmarks. Then, when you type something in the address bar, Shortmarks directs it to your default search engine unless it detects one of your keywords, in which case it checks your database for the bookmark or search engine linked to that keyword, and then takes you there instead. It’s a very clever extension-free solution, and we love that we can finally sync these between our different computers and browsers. Check out the video above for a demonstration, and hit the link below to try it out.
